Mad Scientist Day

12th Jun 2025

On Friday 6th June Clare Primary School was taken over by some very Mad Scientists!  Everyone dressed up as a Mad Scientist and spent the day learning about the work of some influential scientists from the island of Ireland.  P1 learnt about John Dunlop and his discoveries about waterproof materials, P2 explored the work of John Joly and investigated chromatography.  P3 investigated dissolving and learnt about how Hans Sloane used this to create hot chocolate.  P4 explored hydro electric power and the work of William Traill.  P5/6 had lots of fun investigating friction and learnt about how Harry Ferguson used this important concept in his work.  P6/7 explored static electricity and learnt about how important this was to the work of Frank Pantridge.  Everyone had lots of fun making new discoveries who knows what our own mini scientists could go on to discover in the future- well done everyone!
